So my first attempt at doing NaNoWriMo was successful! I haven't really tried before because writing 50 000 words in a month seemed intimidating to me, given that I usually manage around 1K a day, but I thought why not, given that a few weeks before I started developing Nightstar and got super excited for it to the point where I knew I would have to write it as soon as possible.
As of yesterday I wrote 50K words of Break the Day, which makes it over halfway done (maybe? I have no sense of length in this story, word count-wise), and so I managed to finish NaNo more than a week ahead of time, which is still insane to me. At the risk of sounding too self-congratulatory :D I still feel very good about that, even though this book still needs a lot of work to be finished. Not to mention the two sequels.
But speaking of the book, it's going really well. The plot is moving along nicely, the two main idiots finally got together, and I'm in general really pleased with the pacing so far, especially concerning the character development. I was a little worried about the time skips this book would include because it takes place over the length of like half a year, so I was worried it would be jarring, but I don't think it is so far. My only regret is not enough Petre, but hopefully I can rectify that as we go. I should have more time to include them in book 2 if necessary, as that book will be more Ainreth-focused, but still. Petre needs more screentime.
Anyway, off to finish this book.
