Chronicles of Vranosyr

About the Series

worldbeast logo copy-min.png

Chronicles of Vranosyr will be a series spanning a large fantasy world, full of largely original races. It won't necessarily follow the usual structure of one of my series (i.e. covering one continuous story/the journey of a few characters). Instead it should be, as a start, comprised of separate stories covering various races and characters and exploring the world through that. There will be a large plot once everything is set up though.

Since it will take probably years to get to writing this, for now I'll use this page to collect pieces of worldbuilding and character work, adding art and whatever else I make.

Races

Nyteseeks

The nyteseeks are bipedal owl people who live in a magical forest full of mystery along with moonwings. Despite being nocturnal, they worship the sun, offering their dreams to it. If a nyteseek has a bad dream, it is seen as an omen of bad luck.

Most nyteseeks don't have much contact with the other races, mostly just taking care of their forest.

The one time all nyteseeks go beyond the borders of their land is during the Moonmolt, the coming of age journey young nyteseeks and moonwings undergo together to gain experience.

Moonwings

Moonwings are four legged bird people who live with nyteseeks.

They are very knowledgeable and long-lived, though also quite arrogant. They get fed and taken care of by nyteseeks in exchange for their vast amount of knowledge they are born with.

Moonwings bond with nyteseeks with the same colored eyes, joining them on their coming of age Moonmolts to provide guidance and gain real life experience. Once the journey is over, the moonwing and nyteseek often become lifelong companions.

The Wylds

Warrenwylds

Warrenwylds are a race of intelligent rabbits who walk on two legs and are around four feet tall.

They live underground in massive cities they build, mining out more and more space and expanding out further as they explore the depths of the earth.

They don't have much of a mastery of magic and so instead they use technology, inventing all sorts of devices to help them, including rifles and flying machines to transport them between continents if necessary.

Verdantwylds

The warrenwylds' cousins, the verdantwylds are hares, rather than rabbits, living in plains on the surface. The verdantwylds are taller and slimmer, relying on magic rather than tools, forming nomadic tribes of hunters and gatherers.

They prefer to keep to themselves, aside from trading meat to the dragons who live in the area for their shedded scales, which the verdantwylds use to make arrowheads, armor, and so on.

The Fyres

Fangfyres

Fangfyres are feathered snake people living in the desert on the literal bones of a long forgotten civilization of giants.

Fangfyres use the large, incredibly durable bones found in the sands to fashion weapons, armor, and even shelters.

They tend to be very thin and not very strong, which is why they tend to prefer lighter armor and weapons such as daggers to keep themselves fast and deadly.

Fyreskall

Fyreskall are the fangfyre's bigger, stronger, battle-loving relatives.

They prefer large, heavy weapons, usually two-handed axes, and wear plated armor to protect their scaleless skin. They live in a volcanic region, using lava to fuel their forges.

Grovens

Grovens are mysterious giant furry elephants living in the swamp. They are very intelligent and very strong in magic.

Not much is known about them, with some thinking they are simply a legend.
