What Cal assumes will be his death turns out very differently, however, when he actually meets the dragon—a surprisingly human-looking and handsome creature called Idriseth—and very quickly becomes enamoured with him. Cal may have come to steal the dragon’s book, but now he wants to steal his heart. But will the always guarded Idriseth let him? Can a dragon even love a human?

Cal is still bitter and angry after what happened to his guildmates, but he tries to put it all aside, move on, and focus on the new life path that's in front of him.
